The 5 Biggest Cyber Security Risks For Business
Cyberattacks have become more frequent and could cause a lot of damage to a company. You should do everything you can as a business owner in order to defend your business from cyberattacks. This includes implementing cybersecurity procedures and keeping your staff informed about the latest threats.
Cyber security threats to your business: Five major cyber-security risks you must be aware of
1. The theft of passwords: One of the main reasons businesses are affected by data breaches is because of employees. Employees are the entry point into a company’s systems. Employees are prone to accidentally divulge confidential information to outsiders or make a poor choice of passwords which could permit hackers to break in. For instance, many users choose to use pet names and birth dates for their passwords, which could easily be hacked by a hacker using a few online tools.
2. Malware:
Ransomware and viruses are both common threats that can damage your computer system but they’re certainly not the only threats. Cyber criminals also use social engineering and other techniques to gain access to your data. They frequently email or call you pretending to be a tax department, bank, or other authority in order to entice you into giving up your information.
3. Business Email Compromise:
This is one of the most costly cyberattacks, which involves criminals compromising business emails to defraud the business. They typically gain access to the email accounts of employees and then manipulate their company to transfer money to their personal accounts. This can lead to an enormous loss for the company and be difficult to recover from.
